Harold Lutz is no stranger to rehabilitation. The new administrator at Eunice Smith Home spent the past year and a half as administrator at Rosewood Care Center in Alton, Illinois.
Eunice Smith Home, which formerly revolved around long-time residents, is now much more involved with relatively short-term rehab stays designed to get residents back to an independent living environment as quickly as possible.
"With the long-term residents, the staff obviously got to know them and their families much better," says Lutz. "But now it's very rewarding to see a resident progress over the course of a few weeks and be able to get back to where they want to be. I enjoy being a part of that."
Lutz, originally from St. Louis, has a background in health care communications and marketing.
"I enjoyed getting more involved on the health care side," says Lutz. "I have a strong affinity for working with everyone from doctors to clinical nursing assistants. They are all very professional. It's all about superior, quality care for the elderly. I saw the continuum of care with my grandmother many years ago, and that has always motivated me."
